Diagnosis
The genus was established by Poulsen (1965) to distinguish species then attributed to Cypridina, with the upper lip divided into glandular lobes but lacking large processes, and the endopodite of the second antenna being reduced to a short, unjointed process. The carapace is devoid of any ornament. The incisure is well-defined, and the anterior end of the rostrum is rounded. The third segment of the first antenna is short. There are relatively few (12-24) cleaning setae on the seventh limb, and 10-15 comb teeth. The caudal furca carries 8 to 10 pairs of claw setae, with the third and fourth pairs being small. Both lateral and median eyes are well developed.
Remarks
Ths genus presently includes seventeen species, of which only one occurs in this region.
