Diagnosis
Carapace globose with either small or a poorly developed rostra. Postero-dorsal corner spines absent. Shoulder vaults are well developed and in some genera may be vaulted or even armed with spines. The carapace glands are asymmetrical. The frontal organ with stem which is much shorter than the first antenna and a down-turned capitulum. The first antenna is five segmented and angled downwards, second podomere with a strong hirsute seta, five terminal setae. Second antenna protopodite lacks a processus mamillaris. The fifth and sixth limbs are short with dorsal setae on most podomeres. The caudal furca has either seven or more usually eight pairs of hook setae.
Genera
Three known genera: Fellia (three spp, none in UK waters), Halocypris (three spp, one in UK waters), and Halocypria (the one species occurs in UK waters).
